I have just had a pop up on my screen from AVG saying

Others can see what you do online.
Protect yourself now
or something like that

My AVG homepage tells me I am protected. Why am I getting the pop up?

That sounds like an ad for some additional service offered by AVG, almost certainly for this: http://www.avg.com/gb-en/hma-pro-vpn

Ignore it!

Thank you, Chris. I suspected it was an ad.

So the scary, 'Others can see what you do online.' is untrue, is it?
I think ISPs keep records for the police; but generally no, folk can't see. Do beware of public WiFi spots though. With the right equipment crooks can monitor the wireless connection.

Thank you, OG. I was really only concerned about online banking, thinking that my security had been compromised.

That message gave me a fright. I thought it was a warning that someone was spying on me. I read too many books!
It's ridiculous to think that people are spying on you, Tilly.

BTW, I like your new hairstyle but that shade of lipstick doesn't really suit you - and why on earth were you watching that garbage on telly in your bedroom last night? ;-)

I'm glad you like the hairstyle, Chris. I thought it was a bit on the short side myself.

Thank you. I now realise I'm being a chump!
