Anyone else think the news quiz on radio 4 has died since sandy toksvig left?
I listened again tonight, not at all funny, miles jupp has no comedy timing, He reads the funnies so fast that he runs out of breath. the panelists suffer as he doesn't interrupt with funny asides when they start to stumble, i think its a disaster. No doubt some people like miles jupp, but do they think he's the man for the job?

Stopped being funny in 1978, imo.
A bit later than Svejk, it lost the will to live when Alan Coren died
The News Quiz suffered a mighty blow when Simon Hoggart departed in 2006. (Sandy Toksvig was never anywhere near as good). The passing of Alan Coren a year later then left the show without its star performer and it's never been at its best since then.
I also don't like how they've gone from having four rounds (with a a 16 - 16 final score usually) to three rounds being broadcast (still 16-16 though so you felt you'd missed something) and now, in the last couple of weeks, I'm sure I heard Jupp say 'That's the end of round ONE, has anybody got any clippings to read out before the end of the show'

Rather devaluse the whole programme to me.
Anniegma.....Actually, I think that it got better recently ! Japp is as good as Sandy, if not better.

Tonights was wonderful. But I still miss Alan Coren. I shall never forget his definition of Sainsbury's....."only useful for keeping the riff-raff out of Waitrose"
