I'm not new to Excel but I'm new to the Mac. I find when moving around spreadsheets, the screen continually tries to centre its view of the sheet and I loose sight of the first few columns. It's very annoying as the problem returns, even if I return to cell A1. It also happens even if there are only a few columns occupied.

I am amazed at how many people use the word "loose" when they mean "lose"

Loose is the opposite of tight (these trousers are loose)

Lose is the opposite of win or gain (I lose sight of the first few columns)
I use Excel on Mac and don't think I experience it if I understand you correctly (the bit about cell A1 has me confused - what does the sheet then show)
Mine only shifts when I move beyond the right hand side of the screen.

Thanks VHG, that's very useful. I too am amazed, but not at the incorrect use of loose/lose, rather at those who don't finish their sentences with a full stop.
