Sorry that should be HDD and SSD.
It depends on the relative speed of your present hard disk compared to the SSD, and how much extra memory you add and how short you are of it at present.
So, what O/S installed?
Speed of current HDD (rpm)?
How much memory installed?

Biggest 'bang for buck' is more memory, especially if your a bit marginal on what you already have.

You don't need to spend a lot of money to get the full benefits. SSDs are still expensive so a small SSD, say 250GB with the operating system and most used software on will give you speed you want and you can use the current hard drive for your documents and media.
