I have good broadband, 150 GB HD and enough memory but it takes all of 4 mins. to get online.I have looked at my startups and disabled where possible.
I run MBAM(paid for).. Avast free.. Private Firewall,.. Spyshelter,.. Adblock plus and Blur.
The windows firewall is disabled, as there is no support for XP. The Private Firewall in itself always needs a minute. Is there anything I can do without?
Thanks for any help

In the contexy of available downloads from Softonic.com I think that I have worked out what PrivateFirewall and SpyShelter (anti-key logger) are for, but what is Blur ? Are you aware that Softonic.com are notorious for bundling Adware with downloads (a bit like CNet aka download.com). When do you see this 4-minute delay? Is there a 4-minute delay every time...

Hi, I use Firefox 29
Speccy says Ram total virtual 2.4 GB available 1.30 GB
Normally Broadband reads about 6
I cant recall where I downloaded the Firewall etc. but normally it would be the manufacturers or Softonic.
Thanks for the quick reply
softonic is a bad site for malware
it could be a virus ,run a scan and get a firewall from a firewall website like comodo
btw were now on firefox 36.0.4 has it not auto updated ?

Thanks for all the answers, I will try and cover them all in one go.
First, I cant load SP3,T tried again today. Firefox absurd frequent updates,
create problems, just google today the version 36 as suggested and there are pages of complaints about it . In safe mode I have used ccleaner, Defrag. and scanned with MBAM,Avast and SAS. No strange usage showing on T.M. Because of finances and I am 84 'buy a new computer' is not helpful advice , I was asking about confliction in the programmes. Last point, the main delay is when the bottom tray loads, this is all of 2½ minutes.Having researched a lighter Firewall I intend to uninstall Private Firewall and try Ashampoo 1.2 I found today that this is light and designed for XP Thanks
