I have an HP laptop it will be three years old in June, the fan is now making a nasty noise, what do I do pls ? I am a senior and not very good with technology, do I have to take it to a repair shop ?. I don't want to get ripped off what would the approx. cost be ?

Probably best to have it replaced professionally, Dee. It's a fairly simple job with a Desktop PC, but laptops are a little more involved. It won't cost a lot though.
I'm a computer fan too !

Might be worthwhile seeing if anything is fouling it's blades, if that is possible.

I don't know the cost of getting a technician to look at it, but a pure guess might be a half hour's work at, whatever the going rate is. If that.

My HP computer fan was loud so my husband used an air spray to blast all the dust out. It's as quiet as a mouse now.
