Some more information might help. Are you doing general 'day-to-day' printing (including a few photographs) or printing loads of photographs (and little else), or printing nothing but letters and/or leaflets (with no photographs)?

However, if you're simply seeking a good 'all round' printer (which is compatible with an Apple Mac) my post here is relevant:

(It's irrelevant that the question there came from a Windows user. The Canon Pixma MG5550 will work just as well with Apple's operating system).

If you want to do Air print, you have to be sure that the printer will do it, i dont think that Canon do.

I posted a response to this that was there yesterday! Basically I said thank you Chris and blow it, when I wanted an airprint one Canon didn't make them and I ended up with HP
