Syncing Contacts From Windows 8.1 Phone To Laptop

I had many contacts on my Windows 8.1 phone that I no longer needed and so, one by one I deleted them. My question is, when I re-sync my phone to my laptop, will all original contacts previously in use and on the laptop be put back to my phone or will syncing just put my required contacts back to the phone. I don't want to have to delete the 150 obsolete ones again. Thanks guys. Tel
