I have a new epson XP 215-217 printer and it is working well but it does not show the ink level and I have the ink level button flashing indicating low ink but no indication on the properties page on the printing info for preferences.
Is it because it is wifi

The fact that it's Wi-Fi is irrelevant, my printer is connected wirelessly and I can see the printer properties, etc.
If you can get the printer properties page up, there should be somewhere in there to access the ink levels.
If you can't get the printer properties, try going into printer properties, either through "control panel", or "devices and printers".
All too often, after a very short usage, a new printer, which has been supplied with ink cartridges, will flash to indicate low ink levels. The reason is that ink cartridges supplied with printers are more often only part filled, with enough ink to get the actual printer 'up & running'. Perhaps this is the position in which, unfortunately, you are finding yourself.
