We have a cannon printer 299, we used it yesterday, now it says the ink is empty, so went and bought more, exactly same ink as previously, now the printer is refusing to recognise new ink, help !!

You may have a faulty cartridge it happened to me I took the cartridge back to the shop. The replacement worked ok. Or try this 

Tried putting old ones back in , did not recognise those either.
