Hi,
Our Vento desk top computer has developed a fault. it switches off after different short periods of time. sometimes a minute, other times 10 mins or more, the suddenly, gone. when we start, a message saying " some DLL file is missing" appears. we are running Vista. I have a Vista recovery disc, will that help? or is it a problem with the actual computer?
computer about 5 years old, not been used much, and doesn't feel hot or anything. think thats about all the info.

You can't really tell how hot a processor is getting by feeling the outside of the case. Try running speedfan. Check the fans are not clogged with dust.

Of course it could be a physical problem, maybe the power supply has developed a fault.
My old desktop did this. It was the fan. I upgraded to a laptop which seemed to get more care (ie wasn't in the corner of the room gathering dust) but stored in a bag when not being used.
Exact name of the .dll file?
