Mouse with a laptop

I'm thinking of buying a laptop to supplement my PC but I don't fancy using the little fiddly pad thing installed. Is using a mouse an option on all laptops and does anyone have any suggestions for a model with a decent size screen please?

You can always plug a mouse in - I also hate trackpads & so have a small usb rodent that I can carry with me.

Which laptop to buy is as long as a piece of string ... I seem to remember giving some ideas to a friend a while ago -I'll have a look & get back to you.
I couldn't get used to using the mouse pad on my laptop so I use a wireless mouse with mine now and it works fine-much easier!
You will probably need a mouse with a USB connector. It will probably come with its own driver disk or you will need to download one from internet. I hate those touchpad things as well.
Provided the laptop has a spare usb port, you can then plug in a usb mouse no problems.

Too many choices to recommend a model, depends if you want light weight portability or not.
Look around the PC shops in person and try them out, once you've settled on one go online for a better price.
I use a Logitech remote mouse with my laptop Dell Inspiron
You can use either a wired or wireless mouse with all laptops.

Difficult to recommend a particular one without knowing what the laptop will be used for.
Will it be carried about a lot?
Will you be playing high end games or editing videos?
Will you use it to watch films, either by dvd, downloaded or online?
What is your budget?
I also hate the stupid pad thing so I just carry my mouse around anywhere where I think I might have to use a laptop for a period of time.
I use a Logitech M505 laser mouse and it's brilliant, it it doesn't need a mat, the 'dongle' for it is minute and one set of batteries lasts over a year, even with constant daily use.
As everyone has said "it depends" ...

... this is a good mid-range laptop from a reputable manufacturer, at a good price from a company that I have used before & found to be reliable.

It will do pretty much anything you need except really 'hard-core' gaming - that would need better graphics and probably a faster processor.

You can pay less for a lower spec, but I'd always aim for at least 4GB RAM and 500GB hard drive. An hdmi port is useful - means you could run a lead to your TV for watching films etc.
