problems with BBC iplayer

had problems with i player not working so i removed the program and downloaded it again now it will not open ,any suggestions tried the iplayer site but not realy any help
any help appreciated

Operating System name and version? e.g. Windows 7.
Browser name and version? e.g. Microsoft Internet Explorer 9.

When you "removed" the program, what did you do?
Do other multimedia functions work on your PC? e.g. Playing a CD.

windows 7 premium home

just stopped woprking ,so tried several times to recover it no luck so removed the programme and tried to re install keeps saying it is already on my computer even though it has been removed.I just have the shortcut on desk top which will not open . I admit Im not really computer savvy but can usually solve most problems eventually ,this time i cant
any suggestions will be much appreciated and thank you for your time and interest
