Photograph files

I have several old photograph files which when opened find they are PHP files and to be opened with Picasa. Picasa then says they're invalid! I have tried opening these files with other programmes and changing the file name endings – without success. How can I open these files please or are they lost forever?

PHP is a web based server scripting language and is not a photo file format.

You might be lucky if you copy the files and rename the copies .html but I doubt it.

Thanks s.alice - I'll try the .html file ending bit but I think I'm on a loser.
Most likely the download saved the webpage the images were presented on rather than the image. I have seen this happen with some download managers.
