If so, you should be able to load your saved file back into the program (via 'Open Project' or something similar) and then choose the correct 'Save' option.
Just guesswork, but possibly something to look into.

I'm not familiar with VideoPad but this link suggests that you might have used 'Save Project' (creating a vpj file) rather than 'Save Movie' (to create an mp4, mov or other playable file):

Thanks Buenchico. I have since found out what was wrong, the video file code (dot something) was incorrect-Kodak will only play on Apple and would not allow edits. I had to get a (free) converter application and enable the video to play on Windows Media player (.wmp), and everything sorted itself out.
