New Zone Alarm Free Antivirus + Firewall

Has anyone tried the above please? I have the Firewall and they keep offering me free antivirus to go with it. I have AVG and Malwarebytes (both free), is this enough? Old PC with XP. TIA rosy

You wouldn't want to run more than one anti-virus application in the background since they may get suspicious of each other and malfunction. If you are happy with AVG then I see no compelling reason to change.

O-G is right and it's also questionable about your even needing the 'zone alarm' firewall which you have installed.

I did try it but it seem to clash with my AVG running at the same time so i have now removed the free-antivirus

I,ve just got rid of it and gone back to Norton internet security 2012....It cost me £15 from Ebay and is worth every penny...I have had it for 3 years but fancied a (free) change....big mistake!!!

Thank you all for your replies.Read the thread you posted Vivandorron, pity no one answered conclusively about the firewall. I will stay 'as is' for now, but hope someone posts about the firewall. Thanks again-rosy

The Windows firewall is perfectly fine for home users - no other is required.

You need a firewall of some sort, and the free one supplied with XP was merely adequate for the job, if what I've read is correct. A third party one was often recommended. Although I'm told later MS firewalls are better; the PC 'experts' here would be able to give a better view on this. But again I'd only run the one firewall. If you have Zone Alarm, then you should switch off the MS Windows supplied one.
