Are you saying that you cant add it to the thread?

Looking at your original question, you say "I am currently suing the USB output", but according to the manual, there is no USB output for that model.
Manual is here: http://www.sony.co.uk...en/product/CCD-TR820E As a Hi-8 camera is analog, not digital, that would make sense. If that's correct, then in order to get video from the camera to the PC you will need to use a video capture device, such as this: http://www.amazon.co....editing/dp/B000S0QIPI |

This is the original question http://www.theanswerb.../Question1130762.html
All you have to do is open your own thread, then type your answer and hit submit - that's what we all do, not sure why you are having problems today. |

.. just realised that maybe you already have such a device, and that's what you mean when you say you are connecting via USB. If that's the case, then you can't simply open the device in "My computer" (You also ask if Sony use a weird filing system - but analog tape doesn't use a filing system - it's not digital!). You need to capture the video from the camera using video editing software, such as Windows Moviemaker or similar.

Do you have IE6 as a browser. I recall that IE6 users can't see a submit button when they try to reply to their own questions. if you upgrade your browser you will see the submit button

You have managed to reply on your own thread before- although that was a few years ago

Thank you for your interest rojash, you are quite right the camera does not have a USB output but it does have an 'S' video output so I bought an 'S' video cable that terminates in a USB plug and plugged the camera into the usb input on my computer next to the one that my web cam goes into and that works fine but not the camera!
As for getting some Video capture software I actually have 3 programmes one of which is part of the XP OS and since I use to do quite a lot of editing in days passed with my old video camera (now defunct unfortuneately) I find that strange. Before you ask, yes the camera is definately outputting video I have checked that in it's viewfinder of course but also by plugging the camera via it's 3 designated AV output phonos (boldly marked AV output!!) into my VCR/Television system but I can't carry that lot around with me everytime someone wants to see the video. Who would be a great Granddad? My eldest granddaughter is getting married shortly and with my background when at work she'll be expecting grandad to video the whole thing (in a very professional way!!) for posterity, she'll be lucky if we don't get a solution soon. Thanks for all your interest though gentlemen and if anyone comes up with any other thoughts I'll be please to hear them. musicator |

Glad to see you solved the problem of not being able to post on your own thread, musicator. How did you overcome that problem?
