Monitor problem or not ..?

I have a NEC monitor which is a few years old..MultiSync LCD 1970nx.
Every now and then (2/3 times per session) the screen goes black and the power light has gone out. If I wait a few seconds it turns itself on again and runs fine until the next time.
I have re-seated the graphics card..
Checked and secured the VGA cable in both the card and monitor..

Is it time to look for a new monitor..?

Might be power supply cable?
Try changing the monitor power cable first, if it's still the same then new monitor.
