I had a similar problem - couldn't get used to the touch-pad at all. I bought a radio mouse and it's absolutely BRILLIANT.

I am not even sure how to highlight DOH x
Hover where you need to copy, click and hold the left hand button, swipe the cursor acrss what you want to copy, this will highlight it. Click on the right hand button and choose copy. Hope I've got this right, doing it from memory, get a mouse, saves hassle.

BTW. Not all programs have context menus associated with highlighted text. However highlighted text can be copied to the clipboard almost universally using the <ctrl> + C keyboard shortcut.
