Every time i try to install a program onto my Acer 5735 laptop, it asks for "permission to install program" and asks for a password.

Now this was my daughters laptop before mine and she is adamant she never set up a password.

Is there any way of getting past this....im trying to install the software for a new printer at the moment and it won't let me past this stage and it's driving me mad !!!!

Any help much appreciated.

You forgot to mention which version of Windows is on the laptop. However a bit of Googling suggests that it will either be Vista or 7. If so, you simply need to enable the hidden administrator account and to log on with it:
