Problems after installing Service Pack 2 for VISTA

I installed Vista Service Pack 2 today and I appear to have lost sound.

Now when I watch anything on the BBC iplayer, for instance, there is no sound.

HELP PLEASE....the iplayer is my lifeline, now that I've kicked SKY into touch !

( how come Windows didn't fix this at the the same time as I downloaded The Service Pack 2 ? This isn't a proper question, just a wish ! )
