IE 8 "Not Responding"

This week I have been getting numerous instances of IE 8 not responding when I click on a link in Google.

I get a box saying IE must close and it immediately opens up again on the page I had previously clicked the link for.

Is this a local problem to me or are others suffering?

I have been getting the same thing on IE for a couple of weeks. It is very frustrating especially when You don't know what is causing it. I downloaded Firefox and that seems to be ok.

Check the Windows updates. This can happen if Windows is not fully up to date.

Thanks for the comments. I have switched to Chrome. Not only has the problem now gone away it's much quicker too.

I agree that this problem with IE8 started about 2 weeks ago. It doesn't always recover.
Also a strange quirk where sometimes two copies of IE8 start when I definitely only double-clicked once.
