We were younger and although at the time me and my contemporaries were more into R&B and the new wave of protest and blues influenced British bands we were also hearing some of these tunes. We probably deliberately switched off in our minds because they were considered by us, to be Out....Not In, but they were being played and enjoyed by others. I have tried to keep away from the "cool" wall so forgive me if I stray there. By the way these tunes always sound great to me now and remind me of my darling late sister. Not in an unhappy way I must add.

My Sister was a ringer for her. As is "She who must be obeyed" when she was in her teens.
