I was at a quiz last night and there was a disagreement with the answer. The question was, if a player scores from the halfway line in netball, how many points do they get. The answer, if I remember correctly was three. The disagreement came when someone said you can only score when in the semi-circle.
So, who is correct?

You can only score when in the semi circle.

Thank you.
You're welcome - but I don't understand the 'points' comment either. Only two people can score - a goal shooter and a goal attack - and one goal equals one point.
I think the mix up is to do with Basketball. In basketball it's three points scored outside the semi-circle. Two points from inside the semi-circle.
I wondered that Tilly, but I'm not sure of the rules of basketball. You're probably right.
Naomi, you are right about Netball and I am right about Basketball. We are both right. :-)

Oh dear, I'm a mere male and the intricacies of the game defeat me I'm afraid.
Ah now there's the thing, the person asking the question was a man and the disagreerers(?) were men also, and all of an age, if you know what I mean ;)
Thanks again.
Well the quiz master should have known better. :-)
Tilly, I know I'm right about netball. I bow to your superior knowledge on basketball.

ImLostAgain, it's a good game. Worth a look next time it's on television.
Naomi, in my younger days, I was a PE/Games teacher. Netball and basketball were both on the curriculum. I still have my original Acme Thunderer whistle.

PEEEEEEEEEEEP !
:o)
There is no halfway line on a netball court...
Well spotted, Jack. I missed that.
Me too. The court is in three sections.
So basically, the entire question is a complete dud. Pretty sloppy quiz setting there...
The question would have been fine, except he got the name of the game wrong. Bit like Eric Morcambe with Andre Previn. Playing the right piano notes but not necessarily in the right order. :o)

Oh that's hiarious. I'll have a word with him the next time I see him.
In his defence (although I wont allow him any) he is 'of an age' and does it just for fun.
Now let me see, do I tell him in front of everybody or just have a quiet word.
Suggestions please!!
I couldn't advise. Depends how well you know him - and if he's good at laughing at himself. If I were in his shoes, I wouldn't mind everyone knowing. In fact I'd tell them myself. What a hoot! :o)
His age has got nothing to do with it but tell him quietly please. Don't show him up.
Andrew Preview Naomi, get it right ;-)
