Appalling remark from Bristow, but typical of his type I suppose.

It is ignorant, Mikey, and the kind of thing said by someone who hasn't been a victim of abuse. Any abuse, sexual, emotional, mental....always has an element of fear and shame attached. That's why victims stay quiet but when someone else speaks up they affirm it...not jumping on the bandwagon as people on here often accuse them of.

It reads to me that he thinks as they got old enough they should have gave their abusers a hiding.

Abuse effects people in different ways. So much depends on what age you were when it happened, what age you were when it came out, did it ever come out and you've spent years holding a secret.

What Eric said is badly worded but I'm sure many people would think the same....except they probably aren't victims themselves and have no idea of the emotions involved.

Ummm....not only are this slobs words badly put, they are ignorant in the extreme.

If we accept that Bennell targeted dozens, if not hundreds of very young boys and subjected them to years of sheer terror, then Bristow shows no indication that he understands this situation at all, not even a little bit. And I refuse to believe that there are many that share his words.

AB policy forbids me from saying what I thinks of Bristow, but I think you can guess what it would be, and to his face if the opportunity presented itself.
hmmm..this kind of remark is why men do not report abuse ..for fear of how they will be perceived.. this happened when they were youngsters not grown men..but the effects will be felt for evermore...he needs to "engage brain before gob "

I understand what Eric Bristow is saying, but times have changed. I think a lot of people, particularly those from poor working class backgrounds, feel that rather than the victim involving the law - something that within that culture was never considered - abusers should be ‘sorted out’ in what they see as the time honoured fashion.

Ummm....well said.

I wonder if Bristow would repeat these remarks of his, face to face with any of the victims, instead off hiding on Twitter ?

I am reminded of a remark that Cameron once said, live on radio about Twitter :::

"One tweet is OK but too many tweets are just a womens front bottom"

( or something like that )

Kind of sums up Bristow to a T !
yes, crass remark from the CC.
CC?
Question Author
TTT....I always thought that Bristow and Crass went together rather well !
Question Author
Crafty Cockney....I think !...perhaps ST would now be a better moniker.
ummmm, When TTT uses his peculiar language I don't know whether I agree with him or not. I don't bother to ask any more.
Whenever I need comments on sensitive matters in the news, the first people I think of are beer swilling ignoramuses who apparently make money from playing a pub game.

Bristow's a geezer and all the outrage in the world won't change that. Save your ire for the abuser, not troglodyte boozers.
Question Author
Ummm...even I know that Bristow is called the CC, and I have no interest in pub games whatsoever !
douglas, that's exactly right. He is a 'geezer'.
He might be a 'geezer' but I bet he doesn't know how he'd react if it happened to his son or daughter.

Sexual abuse often happens within the happy circle of what should be trusted friends/family/sports coaches. Outing it can cause damage to a wide range of people who are actually innocent.
And that's where the guilt comes from.
Ummmm, //I bet he doesn't know how he'd react if it happened to his son or daughter. //

I bet he does. He'd duff the abuser up - or have him duffed up. He's not unsympathetic to the victims. Quite the opposite. He's simply saying that rather than depend upon the law, he would deal with the perpetrators personally.
Question Author
Ummmm....it seems that even with all that has happened concerning child sexual attacks, there are still some that will try to use weasel words.

There are some in Britain, not the most discerning of course, that will hang on to every word someone like Bristow will utter.

Geezer is far too mild a word for this uneducated slob. he should stick to pubs.
Mikey, don’t let the truth get in the way of your outrage – or your spinning.
