TTT - Thiam won the gold so I can't accept but you are correct in that she also jumped 1cm higher in what was a poor high jump final.I did predict the winner who at 37 yo also broke an age record I believe!

unlikely but it can happen in the dec/heptathlons. I know that Daley Thompson used to enter the individuals in minor events as a training exercise. They may actually be prevented from entering the main event in the Olympics etc but often a decathlete/heptathlete is actually good enough in one or other event to win individually.
