Test series between England and Windies just starting today in Antigua.

I honestly don't care who wins, just want to see some proper cricket with time for matches to develop and swing - all this fast food, one-day, crap doesn't satisfy the inner dave - sometimes you need some proper 'slow food'.

Live on TMS at the moment - England 49-3 at lunch.

Good day - 341-5 - century for Bell and decent scores for Stokes and Root.

That's what is good about Test Cricket - England were on the ropes at lunchtime and in a one-day game that would have been that - but in Tests there is time to rebuild & the balance of the game can ebb and flow :)
I sort of get it.

I mean, the whole cricket thing.

Sitting in the sun, drinking fizz, and watching something tactical.

I even went to Lord's a few years ago to see Sussex lose to someone else. Hampshire, maybe, or someone like that.

But then on lots of other levels, I just don't get it.
You weren't too bothered four years ago either, JJ!!!

It's quite easy really

You have two sides, one out in the field and one in. Each man that's in the side that's in goes out, and when he's out he comes in and the next man goes in until he's out. When they are all out, the side that's out comes in and the side that's been in goes out and tries to get those coming in, out. Sometimes you get men still in and not out.
When a man goes out to go in, the men who are out try to get him out, and when he is out he goes in and the next man in goes out and goes in. There are two men called umpires who stay out all the time and they decide when the men who are in are out. When both sides have been in and all the men have been out, and both sides have been out twice after all the men have been in, including those who are not out, that is the end of the game
House point to S_G for thorough research.

House point to me for remembering that it was Hampshire.
It's taking some time to work Stephen's post out. Or do I mean work it in?
It was the joke rules of Cricket I went searching for (Do I get a house point for honesty, milady?).

How does Ian Bell manage to swing a Cricket Bat with the broadest shoulders of ANYONE in the world, ever? If he wasn't carrrying the England Cricket team then we'd be no better than 11 people who have never played the game before, playing for the first time.....
And Root and Stokes.
Day 1 is over and England has scored 341 runs with the loss of 5 wickets and Ian Bell's 22nd century digs England out of hole and overall our players played very well.

Lead of 104 on first innings - can England score reasonably quickly after tea and push home the advantage?
Question Author
Squeaky bottom time - England need 4 more wickets, about 34 overs left after Tea.

TMS now on R4 long wave and on R5LiveSportsXtra.
There just seems to be so much attention to Jimmy Anderson
getting a record breaking wicket that England has lost sight of the
most important thing - a win.
I wouldn't mind being in Antigua watching the non-proper cricket. It seems like a great atmosphere there.
Question Author
Agreed - it's distorting their priorities.
Christ, where's the next break through coming from.....
Get a Yorkshireman on to bowl. LOL
Well Joe Root seems to have a 'magic arm' so you could be right!
