Fair enough to remove Cook as one day captain but how can they replace him with Eoin Morgan who is not worth his place given the evidence of this series with Sri Lanka.

Perhaps they thought that Morgan worked well as Captain. As stand-in in the fourth ODI against Sri Lanka he made 62, so seems to cope with the role better.

Also there was a question of who else? Other than Broad, Bell and Anderson there aren't many senior players left in the ODI squad. Probably part of the reason they stuck with Cook for so long.
Maybe they should take a punt on Joe Root.

I remember how South Africa took a chance on a 22 year old Graeme Smith
& look how he turned out.

Or even James Taylor who has been a successful county captain.

Joe Root seems to be the future in the role of England captain......I would have thought that that may have been a brave appointment.
