Any tips for the Grand National??

Got about £20 from various work peeps, and undecided to go for a heavily backed favourite....or a long shot

And is it best to go "each way" or just go for the winner??

lol alber, it is a great name, but "thingy" on the end is even better.
mickrog, the horses continue running as they're herding animals. Their first instinct is to keep up with the pack.

And i'm with Daisya, disgusting practice that still goes on, but hey there's money involved so whats a few dead horses when dosh is talking eh?
I hate horse racing for my own personal reasons but this question is in sports and opinions on the matter weren't asked for.
Their second instinct is 'I ain't jumping that, no way Jose'

Ban all horse racing and add millions to the dole queue.
If you'd like to have a discussion about whether horse racing is cruel, please do so on another thread.

This user was just asking for some tips, completely legitimately - if you don't have anything to offer, please don't bother answering the question.
Ok, lets ban jump racing.

First we'll get rid of most of the horses (most are too expensive and fickle to keep) so we'll just shoot um, 2-4000, horses gone BANG. Then we'll have a look at the brood mares, stalions at stud, foals, yearlings, another 2-3000 horses BANG. Then there the human element, all the stable hands, grooms, jockeys (too big for the flat), dentists, farriers etc, lets just make them redudnant, most of the stable lads and lassies, are given accommodation, so we'll make them homeless as well. Then we'll start on the feed merchants, the saddlers, etc.

We'll also get rid of the grants given to vet schools each year, for research projects, which benfit ALL horses not just race horses.

Well done we just save 5 or 6 horses!!!
apologies ummm, ed and JDU, consider my wrists slapped :-)
oooop's sorry Ed
well said Ed
fiver on ballabrigs and a fiver on seabass(would be first female jockey to win this great race)
my sorry appears to have disappeared into cyber space, but once again, my apologies.
My tip is not to bet any more than you can afford to lose. Assume you will lose and then any win is a bonus. Appreciate that the larger races is more of a lottery than the smaller events so any names given should be taken with a lot of salt. Maybe split your stake, go with a favourite or near favourite in the hope that'll cover any probable loss on an outsider ? But whatever you do, have fun.
Well said Ed,

Seabass, State Of Play both e/w
Always Right and Killyglen for me.
