fingers crossed. Hope Mr Lendl is having a good impact on him.
So do I and wouldn't it be nice if some Scots didn't make it part of their war against the English ?
Question Author
i think its been a wee while since scotland and england ( were at war )
Andy's British (if he wins)
Correct peashaq - but Scottish if he loses.
ditto maggiebee
Here we go-I've never heard anyone but Wingeing Scots use the British/Scots nonsense.
brionon - When Celtic won the European Cup in 1967 they were the first British team to do so. When Manchester United won it the following year they weren't the second British team to do so - they were the first English team and Celtic suddenly became Scottish.
And had it been the other way round Celtic would have been happy to have been the 'second British team' to win?

Or might they have been tempted to say that they were the first Scottish team to win?

ooooo, I wonder!

If it had been the other way round we probably wouldn't have heard that Celtic had won it all.
I'm sure the Daily Record would have had a line or two........

Unless it was muzzled by the big bad English press barons, of course.
sorry - should read "at all"

Peashack- When Celtic won the European Cup I had a Cafe in Hastings -we celebrated most of the night. You see we weren't Racist.
brionon - I celebrated when England won the world cup in 1966 (even though they cheated).
The laddie is doing well, and think the press should get off his back. Yes he has not won a grand slam ! (So what!)

He is the best British mens player in 70 years and has done more in his short career than Mr Henman ever did and you know the praise he was given.
I too hope he wins. I note his mother will not be present on this occasion as her new duties take here elsewhere.
Not a chance, I dont say that out of any sort of nationlism, but we as Britons just don't seem to breed sports people with the hunger or schadenfreud.

Despite the way the London media portray him, his is by all accounts a funny, witty and thoroughly decent chap.

He is unfortunate that he lives in the age of Djokovic and Nadal.
"Despite the way the London media portray him, he is by all accounts a funny, witty and thoroughly decent chap".

He certainly doesn't come over as a "funny & witty chap" when he's being interviewed on TV.

Having said that, I hope he wins too.
