My brother who lives 125 miles away from the rest of us has suffered on and off over the years with depression and anxiety. In December he had a bad relapse and stopped going into work, his wife got him to spend a lot of money on gifts for her and the two children at Christmas, then two days later asked for a divorce on the basis that if he couldn't work he was no use to her.We didn't know this for a while as he wouldn't ask for help.
She has got him to sign documents relating to the house and other things while he was in no fit state to do so,he hasn't been taking care of himself and not been out of the house for a long time.
Tablets have been given without seeing the doctor given his history of needing them and delivered to the house.
He has not been able to seek help and I am now trying to organise to see a solicitor urgently,he has said he will go with me,I know this may change but he really needs help.he has text me she has now taken the last money he had ,and now has credit card and a loan he can not pay. Really need some advice urgently.
Thanks.

Thanks Eddie,I do realise that is what is needed,it's just not easy to get someone in the place he's in to want to go anywhere or do anything.
^ I can understand that but it has to be done and urgently!

Thanks for the assistance Eddie,I'll see if they can help with his depression situation, but not sure they could help with the financial areas that also need urgent addressing.
My thoughts are see a solicitor then contact the bank and get any payments stopped and also ask his doctor for a letter stating he is and has been unfit to work since December.
^ They will probably be familiar with the situation of someone manipulating a vulnerable person with mental health issues into doing something they would not have otherwise done. I was thinking they would be able to offer advice on that front.

I've turned up at his home and he's resisting seeing a solicitor or speaking to anyone, hes also asked for money for food.
If I do give it to him I think this will set him back even more to seek help elsewhere.
I Really am struggling with what to do.
Mental health is really difficult, you're doing the right thing and he's lucky to have a sister like you! Contact Mind for advice, they'll be able to help you find the right words to coax him into getting help with both his health and the solicitors. Mind are there you as much as they are for him :-)

Thanks anthro-nerd
I have tried them several times and just seem to be on hold permanently,I know it's very unlikely he will ask them or anyone else for help.
I had to ring the solicitor to cancel and she was very understanding, the appointment was for 3pm but she said if I got him to change his mind she would be there until 4.30 and to just turn up.
I have also given him numbers for Citizens Advice help with debt line,National debt line and Just ask number and told him to call his bank and explain his situation, maybe they will put things on hold.
