my grandma (before she died) had a couple of photos of Amelia Earhart taken when she landed in Derry in Ireland.

my grandma at the time was a little 'un, so her memory of it happening was fuzzy. She just remembered the 'posh' lady and the plane.

My mum has managed to find one of the photos...

And im trying to find out who the little old lady and two blokes are in it. I'm assuming they're my grandmas relatives (her own grandma??).

I've found a very similar photo via Google, though annoyingly it didn't say who it is stood with Amelia.

Anyone else better at sleuthing than me?

How exciting good luck with your search
what a fabulous photo to have. I can't even get into the page it's on at the moment so I can't help, but do get the photo copied before anything happens to it.

The other one's better, though my mum can't find it at the moment (grrr!), its of Amelia stood next to her plane, flying jodhpurs in all their glory, surrounded by kids- one of which is my grandma :-)
Great photo BOO.
would she have been the one living near the field mentioned on this page, who gave her a glass of water?

(I'm guessing that Mr Gallagher, who owned the field, was someone a bit posher.)
A lot of villages/areas have Facebook history groups. Have you looked to see if there is one for that area? If there is and you post the picture, someone might recognise the people
Does my link not show the same people?

Not sure if this link will work, but may give you a little more info.

Mamya! you beauty! xxxxx

I've got a name now at least (thank you!!) the McLaughlin's, so that must be the name of my grandma's family, still dunno how i find out who they actually are.

Possibly my grandma's grandma and uncles?
Could well be, good luck.
Question Author
Mamya, i did find that photo as it was obviously done at same time, but the site I found mind on didn't say their name.
Question Author
mine not mind*
More info you gather the better.
I would say it does, Mamya.
if your mum doesn't know, are there any aunts or uncles around who might? I've got a lot of family info from cousins who are older than me (and whose parents were a bit more communicative than mine).
Question Author
No, not a chance jno, she genuinely didn't remember much other than the plane landing, the posh lady coming out and having her photo taken with the other local kids.

In fact this particular photo is new to me today, I always thought she had the one photo- the plane one, I didnt know about this one.
pretty fair chance that it was her family, or if not then the McCallion family in the next cottage; I can't think of any reason a little girl would be near a field on a farm unless her family lived and worked there.

These people might know a bit more
