I know this is going to sound mad but here goes.

I bought a beautiful dressing table a few weeks ago, it was second hand as I couldn't afford the one I wanted new but this one was in excellent condition so I bought it.

Everyone who sees it remarks on how lovely it is and I can't disagree as it is.

But I don't know, I just can't take to it, I just don't like the vibe. I've never felt this way about a piece of furniture before, have I finally lost the plot?

not crazy at all. I have got a really tatty oak desk I bought off ebay. Its 1940’s ish quite bashed about, the drawers stick or slide in too far and not all the locks work but I love it to bits

Thanks all for your reasurances, I've never felt negative about a piece before, loved pieces that are well passed it but never the other way around.
I'm the same with some objects I buy to sell on.
I don't sell them and over the years the collection of things I don't want to sell has grown. Now we plan to downsize , I'm having real problems parting with my loved items. Some are not worth much, but I just bond with them. I'm into art deco.
A bit of Clarence Clift ?
I'd like to say I understand but, it's a dressing table :-)
