I do hope that they adopt BMX (it's on trial this year). Another worldwide sport. Though the trial so far only covers BMX track, the grass roots stars are in BMX dirt, BMX street, and BMX flatland.
BMX was in the 2008 Olympics.
Can we suggest that it is made one then? I can remember the advent of syncronised swimming in 1988. Is drinking beer really fast one of the events.

I would love to se the 'yard of ale' race in the Olympics
Even I can hit a dartboard with a dart. May be a skill but not a sport.

I will refer you you my 21:16 answer, Daisy.
If shooting and archery are sports ..........?
I think the concept of a 'sport' has long been lost in the shadow of Mammon.
If the IOC can get a good deal on the TV rights then you will get in.
Distance between player and target? Allowance for weather conditions? Is alcohol a banned substance? Takes place in a location where youngsters are safe, nurtured and encouraged towards a healthy life-style?

I can't make head nor tail of your last reply, Daisy
The IOC are not driven by Mammon. The Olympic Games features many sports which are played worldwide but which do not attract major commercial sponsorship outside of those Countries where it is a cult sport. This in itself is a conundrum. Do we exclude Football, Tennis, Basketball and Handball because some Countries have serious commercial sponsorship?

Personally I'd like to see the Professional Players excluded, lower the qualification mark, and let the Olympic Games be open to all amateurs.

I'm not sure why Golf isn't an Olympic Sport, but I can understand why all form of Motor Sport are excluded.
So you don't get a gold medal.
And the Gold Medal for the most irrelevant self-generated cross-link is awarded to @Mick-Talbot.
@DaisyNonna The British Darts Organisation (BDO) actively encourage young players and all junior events take place in alcohol-free venues.

Your uninformed prejudice is disturbing, but possibly influenced by the tabloid newspapers?

The darts scene encompasses a depth of sportsmanship which you will not find at a football match. It is customary to support both players in a darts match and to reward good play with applause.

Distance between player and target? Allowance for weather conditions

Think of boxing, judo etc ....

Distance between player and target? Shorter than the distance of a dart player and the target.

Allowance for weather conditions ......much the same for boxing , judo, swimming...well any indoor port really.

Takes place in a location where youngsters are safe, nurtured

Lol ...do you think they would hold Olympic darts in the Red Lion ?

Meths?
-- answer removed --
Darts is bigger than the Red Lion. Just Google:

(For the BDO)
Lakeside Country Club Darts

(For the PDC)
Alexandra Palace Darts

The current darts scene centres around Youth Clubs, Working Mens Clubs, British Legions and those Public Houses who are still in business.

Unfortunately due to an unrelated public incident, I strongly suspect that the News of the World competition (after its recent revival) has died a death!

Realistically, how can the sport of Darts be affected by Telephone Hacking? The end of the "News of the World" revival competition is a sad day for darts.

My fondest thoughts and condolences go out to the parents of Millie Dowler. Darts does not matter in proportion to this despicable wrong the News of the World at a time of such stress by the parents of Millie Dowler.

(My own opinion, which may/may not be endorsed by the Courts in due course).
