Nasty injury - shame just before the start of the test series, but for his ongoing health it's probably for the best, but still a hard choice...
Very sad way to end an outstanding international career.
What a shame a great career had to end in this way.

One of the outstanding wicketkeepers, and I doubt his record number of dismissals will ever be beaten.
Yes great sportsman & person hope he recovers quickly
As a wicketkeeper in my younger days,I feel so sorry, that a cricketer such as
Mark Boucher, should have to finish his career,to a freak injury.
The chances against being hit by a bail, whilst "over the top" must be very slim.
I wish him a quick and speedy recovery from a terrible injury.

I know nothing about that aspect of cricket so don't know how fast a bail can come off, how much they weigh etc. I did think that they do not have any sharp edges or points. This must have been that 'one in a million' chance.
I wonder if a helmet would have stopped such a freak episode?

I suppose the bail could heave gone through the grill.
