One of the best left halfs in the business - wish there were more like him in football today.

RIP
Part of a great Tottenham Hotspur team .A Spurs great .RIP Mr Mackay .
Don't forget he played for Derby County.........
I was at this match. Mackay had just come back from a broken leg and Bremner hacked wildly at him. Mackay was explaining the rules of football to him when the referee intervened...and gave a free kick to Spurs.

Justice done.

I remember being at a game in the early sixties - Tottenham against West Ham - and Dave Mackay finishing the game with the front of his shirt covered in blood - things were different in those days!

The sight of him powering around the pitch, with his great bull chest covered with blood has stayed in my mind for over 50 years - what a great man!

Rest in Peace!
