Is there any point to this match? There's been one at every World Cup tournament since 1934. Van Gaal doesn't like it http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/28243020 and he's probably right.

Since it will be taking place on Saturday, what sort of game will it be? Will the Dutch be bothered at all? Will the Brazilians try to restore some sort of pride or do they have no hope of achieving that?

I don't think Brazil are good enough to restore any pride.

Pointless game, Brazil will win because they'll be desperate to restore some pride

Is there the possibility of extra time and penalties with this game?
Every possibilty.
really a game to zzzzzzz through, unless there are riots, which there may well be.

it might be worth a bet on an own goal in the 90th minute if the scores are tied
Why wait until now to ask the question? Not as if they've suddenly decided upon a match for 3rd/4th. And i'm guessing that Van Gaal and many of his players, particularly the ones who haven't participated, would rather they have play this match than not qualified from the group in the first instance. I just hope all those players from both sides who are yet to play, get a chance to do so in this game.
Forgot to add; it also gives us punters a chance to win (or - whisper this - lose) a bit more coin:-)

why wait until now? 'cos at this time yesterday I didn't know that Dutchland would be playing in this game so would have had to leave a blank space in the question
that means riot, methyl. I look forward to hearing of your arrest in the Daily Wail, courtesy of aog!

See the dutch manager wants change the rules of football like a certain guy that used to manage a little club in, sorry not in Manchester before him well not the last but who cares .
Well said , Weecalf.
The fact that van Gaal doesn't like it is reason enough to support it ...
The last 3rd/4th place match I seem to remember was very exciting. This one might be too, although the supposedly exciting Dutch have not scored a goal in open play since their equaliser against Mexico last month.
