Yes, but not particulalry gifted ones if this tournament is anything to go by. I thought Germany were, but Italy proved that wrong.

I don't see where you're going with this one Mick, because all teams in all eras will compete against teams of reasonably comparable levels of sports technology and preparation.

The fact the modern age has much better...

I would Say playing without strikers is just about as near to reinventing as you can get Duncer.
I can sort of see where folks are coming from as I would like them to be slightly more direct at times, but they are still phenomenal.

Ridiculous to compare entirely different eras. I would argue that Spain, and most modern teams, are so much fitter and better prepared than Brazil that they would win by three or four.
