The papers have referred to him as a HERO!
He has not scored a goal at a major tournament since June 21, 2004.
A scarcely believable eight years since his double against Croatia in Lisbon.
In 2006, he was sent off for stamping on Portugal’s Ricardo Carvalho in Gelsenkirchen.
In 2008, he and England did not even take part.

flop
I thought Micky Rooney was dead ...
I don't think playing for his country means enough to him.

He talks the talk, but he doesn't walk ... etc

He's just interested in getting wedged up playing for Man Utd, and being one of the nations uber-chavs.
I hope he's chomping at the bit, I've got him at 66/1 to be top scorer so a hat trick would be nice tonight
I do hope the team continue to play as a 'team' and not be dependent on one man, as they have done in the past.

Hat-trick... sounds good to me he's my fantasy football captain.
1) Weight of nation on him - Check
2) Huge expectation by manager - Check
3)Talking a good game (obviously before game has started) - Check
4)Media creaming themselves over him, while overlooking rest of team - Check

Dissappear at kick of as per normal

In 2010, he was there in South Africa but, like the rest of the team, you wouldn’t have realised it.
He would then let down the fans who have always given him unconditional support with a throwaway remark to a TV camera about “It’s nice to see your own fans booing you” after the horrendous 0-0 draw with Algeria in Cape Town.
Here, at the Euros, he has missed the opening two games after his needless red card last October in the qualifier in Montenegro.
Is that really Hero material?

Damn you sir prize .....I was going to use that very same rant when someone jumped in to defend him.

Non the less I live in hope that he will finally deliver.
nothing special

the team have managed quite well without him so far
he aint gonna give head
He does for Fergi ! tambo
well it will be interesting to see if he can live up to the goal promises he has made to the press all week.
Unless I've missed something but the only competetive international match I've seen Rooney perform well at was against Croatia in Euro 2004.

Good league player but doesnt really live up to the hype in a big match England shirt.
AND he has had a hair cut !!!!!...remember Samson.... personally I think he is an overpaid hyped up chavvy thug !!!
