Do you think that God is weeping ?

Archbishop Desmond Tutu has said that the Church has an 'obsession' with sexuality when it should be focusing on issues such as poverty.

He told the BBC's Robert Pigott that he is ashamed of homophobia within the Church.

Do you agree ?

The Archbishop is right the church is obssessed with sexuality. Sex is something God gave us and we treat it like a sin. If it was supposed to be a sin then how come it feels so good. Bit of a joke on Gods part then in that case.
But if you are going to live by a set of rules written down several thousand years ago and then expect people to take you seriously when you are expecting everyone else to do the same then be honest and be seen to live by those rules and I mean all of them and not just the ones you fancy. But we all no that some of the biggest offenders are the high church themselves.

Supposing there is a God I would think that the weeping would be with laughter at the idiots who focus on sex as a great evil rather than the fact that an obscene doctirine via the catholics forbids the use of condoms in a place where HIV is rampant... Admittedly my deity may have something of a black sense of humour though.

China, wise words indeed.

Hello Jack, yes, I do agree. If there is a God, I imagine he's not only weeping, but tearing his hair out at man's complete and utter stupidity. He's probably sorry he ever invented religion!!

I don’t think that God is or will weep as he is aware of each and every one’s actions till the end of this world and even after that. As far as Archbishop is concerned then yes they have other things to worry about, they have to reconcile their own false beliefs and have to go back what Jesus (pbuh) really told. As China said that whether it is use of condom or other things that do not reconcile with the changing time plus have no logical reasons to back it up. Ok there are so many things even I may believe in and so do many others from different religions. As long as there is an explainable logic behind that then it is fine and truth would speak for itself. Of course 100% people will never agree on same thing. That is the main reason why people are moving away from Church. They have to get back to real teachings of Jesus (pbuh).

I have come to the conclusion that if there is a God who created the universe in six days that he is still having a quiet Sunday afternoon at home. But when He gets back to work on Monday there will be hell to pay.

My god is not the god with which you identify, Mani.
My god would care that his children could be so wilfully cruel and neglectful towards each other.
My god would care that, in his name, there are people who are disenfranchised and down-trodden with no prospect of gaining a better earthly life.
My god would care that the promise of 'jam tomorrow' means that far more of his children live utterly wretched lives than is morally acceptable.

But, hell, lets not focus on that....................let's focus on what two consenting adults can do, if they choose, in private. Surely that is far more worthy of our attention ?

Not a God, as such, but possibly a benevolent flag-bearer in whose name we ought to come together and treat our fellow travellers with equality, dignity and respect.

I do not believe in the bearded cloud-dwelling 'quick to anger' God of the bible, nor his divine son...............

Ah...........the voice of tolerence and reason.
Welcome, ghetto poet.........

And do you have anything else to contribute to this thread other than insults ?

I would have thought that a chap with your social conscience would have more to offer on the thoughts of Archbishop Tutu ?

Perhaps you could treat us to one of your 'ghetto poems' on poverty; an issue I am sure is dear to your heart ?

if there is a God then he is probably weeping because some countries allow evil perverts like you to walk the streets.

i would post one of my raps but you probably wouldnt understand it.

So having gay people in the world is worse than having poverty ?

I take it that insults are actually all you have to offer......

Well, run along, little boy...............the grown ups want to talk.

Give it a rest ghetto.

Jack - thanks, you might not believe it but i'm also no stranger to discrimination. Maybe that's what makes me discriminate myself sometimes.

If you don't mind me asking how did you have a son? Did you adopt?

Jack, of course insults is all he has to offer. Anything else is beyond his capabilities.

Ghetto poet, what a pathetic excuse for a human being you really are - seemingly completely devoid of the vaguest modicum of intelligence or understanding - or even the slightest hint of common sense. You need to take a seriously long, hard look at yourself. You're full of hatred and bigotry - and your mind is in the gutter. Go away and read some educational books. You might just learn something worth learning.

(Waits for the racist accusations to start - and for Ghetto to make even more of an idiot of himself - yet again)

I find gay people often more tolerant than the suposed church goers.
The religious are the most intolerant with the exception of one or two who really were just wonderful and living upto the words of Jesus.
I saw a few members from the God hates fags congrigation in the USA. I don't think in all my years have I ever come across such narrow minded, evil, hate mongers.
Even the KKK would have trouble living up to their standards.

Yes, Mani, I do mind, as it happens.

You seem to have forgotten our last encounter................just as well I haven't. I have been treated to your own special brand of Christianity previously.

I have only replied to you on this thread because you seemed to be 'sticking to the topic', asking about my son certainly isn't.

Ghetto Poet - whilst you are perfectly entitled to contribute wheresoever you wish on these pages, some topics are so obviously above your intellectual plane...........

You strike me as being some nasty little boy shouting abuse through the school railings...........
