Lord Tebbit, Rowan Williams and Homosexuality

Take a look at this article written by Lord Tebbit - http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-104275 5/LORD-TEBBIT-If-head-church-uphold-standards- shaped-hope-there.html

Actually I should have probably warned you in advance it's on The Daily Mail website so don't open it in polite company!! But then again I don't suppose you would expect to find Norman Tebbit writing in The Voice!!

Anyway Norman is referring to some private memoirs of Rowan's that were leaked where he said something along the lines of God being present in homosexual relationships. He is attacking Rowan's personal views on homosexuality and suggesting (or should I say scaremongering) that the mixed messages may drive people towards Islam.

What do you think about this article?

I just feel that Rowan sees both sides of the argument and is entitled to a private opinion. I don't think that the fact he sees the validity of the other side's stance makes him a weak leader, or even indecisive.

Tebbit seems to suggest he'd only make a good leader if he agreed with him, which I think is the problem. If (or when) Rowan came down on one side of this debate, he would become a decisive leader but alienate half the church.

His is a different style of leadership I think and most don't get him because he isn't what they expect or hope for.

Its not only him Mani - fortunately most of the people in the West are confused. Handful individuals are trying to make everyone believe that secularism, free will about sexuality and so on is the way forward. Many have already seen consequences of going against the nature (even in that article it is mentioned) and many are trying not to see it. But it is there.

Rowan as a Christian leader wants to deny all these so called liberties. But because of a lobby of certain people he is criticised heavily by even those people who perhaps in their mind agree with him but are forced against only to keep their place in the society.

When many start calling Sun as moon then the one who still calls it Sun obviously looks odd and liar. In the end Rowan will have to accept Islam and keep believing in what he really believes in.

It's faintly amusing that Tebbit invokes Leviticus as the source of our morals. Clearly he's not aware of what is actually written there.

The notion that Anglicans would be so confused by Williams that they turned to Islam is just inane and illogical.

Hey ho, another day, another ******** article in the Daily Mail. Plus ca change.
