I have had a lot of coincidences happen in my life and they've all been strange.
Not your average, `Oh look, someone's wearing the same T-Shirt as me! ' kind of thing but much more odd.
I have been reading a book by Deepak Chopra entitled "SynchroDestiny" which tries to explain the phenomena.

I was in a supermarket 12 miles away from my home, the guy that served me at the checkout asked me for my postcode for research purposes, he was shocked when I told him because it turned out he was the previous tenant of my house!
how is that for weird!

When I have been going through various crises in my life, I have used all of my strength and assets to address the problems, and sometimes it just isn't enough. At that point I have been desperate and prayed to God for help and guidance, and one way or another, an answer has always come, and usually not in the way I have expected it.
It has never been easy, and my wants are rarely met, but my needs, always.
I honestly believe that if I had greater faith, and could give more, let go more, I would receive more, but not in a way that the world would comprehend.
I don't consider answered prayer as a coincidence, but the laws of probability must demand that certain events are coincidental, and that such occurrences must be quite frequent.

There are far more noncoincidences and they way outweigh the actual coincidences.

I wouldn't view all the so-called 'coincidences' that have occurred throughout my life as coincidences. I do believe there is more to some of them.
Wiz, you intimated a little while ago that there are things going on in your life that are leading to you re-thinking your philosophy (or words to that effect). Are you going to tell us what's going on? This is intriguing - so come on, spill the beans - please.

Thanks for the replies folk.
naomi, there have been a few 'occurences' of late. Nothing that I could term supernatural as such but there have been instances that have made me think a tadge differently about the way the universe might work. As you know, i spent a good many years looking into various philosophies and came away with an atheist / sceptic philosophy and that still stands. Its just that now Im not altogether convinced by what science tells us either.
Maybe its just a mid-life crises or the male menopause....

Wiz ......there have been instances that have made me think a tadge differently about the way the universe might work.
Even more intriguing - at least to me. Can you elaborate? If you would rather not, it will be pretty frustrating, but of course, I'll accept it.

naomi...
maybe my minds working overtime here (Ive not long been back from a filming of university challenge whereby you can see my head from behind in an audience shot...and I also nearly managed to trip up Mr. Paxman as I was in an aisle seat with my legs outstreched as Paxman was walking up the aisle to the sound people at the top) so maybe Im a bit star struck (or p1ssed as ive imbibed quite a few pints in Manchester and one or two at home).
Seriously though, Im a bit reluctant at the moment to discuss things. Lets just call them coincidences for the time been.
Albeit much needed coincidences...no thats not right. Thats making it sound much more than what it probably is.

Mmm .... the plot thickens!!!! But seriously Wiz, if you don't tell us what's going on, how are we to rationally consider what's happening to you?
Sorry, got to go to bed now. Night. x

night naomi...
If I knew how the pm's work on here then I'd discuss it further with you....what a complete technophobe I am....
|
|
|
We'll give you lessons on the PM's thingummyjig if you like, then Naomi can give you the keys to the sanctuary.
|
|
|
Wotchit Theland! The problem with PMs on Sportsbank is that we're restricted to 500 words, so we can't say a lot. I can't get into it at the moment anyway.
|
|
|
No, but you could leave instructions for Wiz to get to the Sanctuary. He's only got to read, not write anything, and he's read messages there before.

There is nothing like coincident. That is how we feel about it because certain things are out of the ability of our brain. God shows us his signs and we term them as coincidences and strange happenings and instead demand to see the one who is doing it all.
To you Wiz I would only say one thing, God has not completely forsaken you for some good reason and your inner self is trying to wake you up. Someone said once that man goes as far as he possibly can to find God with no success whatsoever and one day he finds him in his own heart.
One day you will remember my these words Wiz.

coincidence just means things coincide. Look, my clock shows 19.46, doves are cooing in the oak tree, a guy in a baseball cap just walked past my window. Untold gazillions of these things happen every second. You could perfecly well argue that all these things are related, deriving as they do from the creation of the planet, or indeed of the universe, just as everyone on earth is related some way or other. Or you could say there's no connection between them except the fact that they happened at one time in one place.
The question is whether any of these coincidences have any meaning. A few might. but most don't. For instance, if you were in a group of 23 people you might think it was a remarkable coincidence that one of them shared your birthday - but in fact the odds are 1 in 2 that this will happen.

So what seems like significant coincidence may just be simple maths.

|
|
I think that's right, jno. Most coincidences are just that - coincidences. But ..... what about the others? There's no doubt that sometimes things happen that go beyond mere coincidence - and I think they're the ones Wizard is talking about. I don't go along with the God theory though. There's more to life than that.
Wiz, I do wish you'd come clean and let us chew this over.
|
|
|
The only coincidence is that of all the billions of things that happen each day, only a miniscule number of us have an encounter that strikes a chord.
We call those strikes "a coincidence".
Sensible people call it statistical inevitability.
|
|
|
Actually, if none us here had had a coincidence happen to them ...
... that would be a coincidence.
What? You never, ever have coincidences? Nor do I. What a coincidence.
