Elements of both books of Christianity and Islam call/command for violent treatment of infidels. In the Middle Ages, we (the English) called anyone who was not a Christian an infidel (an unbeliever) particularly Saracens, and dealt with them as we would more or less deal with our peasant serfs who nicked a loaf of bread.

Fortunately continuing this medieval violence in the modern age is only employed by the very extreme very few.

Whether the actual events of that story are true appears untrue, but it serves well as an anecdote I guess. It just seems to be an old adage about we don’t murder you because you don’t believe, but you would murder us. But at any given time in history both are unequivocal in their violence towards each other. Who knows, some of them might even have been atheists murdering the believers, although that is of course could never be true.... could it?

Sorry for the delay in reply. First of all I would say these sort of Imams are the one who are making Islam look bad. As it was mentioned in the topic (I read only top bit) that truth will prevail, and that is right. Personally I believe that Islam has been damaged more by these Imams who do not have knowledge or they just make statements from their own brain to make few people follow them. I have no doubt that before anyone else Allah will grip these people.

Ok now I would say if anyone is serious about learning any religion then they should not go any where but the main scriptures. I can not tell about Christianity but for Islam just read Quran and Authentic Hadith. If Arabic is not your language then translation should be from a reputable person. Allah says in Quran that there is no force in Islam.

Then if someone is really willing to learn about true Islamic teachings then I would suggest watching Chanel 823 if you have SKY satellite. Peace TV, I would say is the best place to know about real Islamic teachings through reputable scholars and not street Imams who themselves are mislead.

I don't know if this story is true or not, but thanks to both of you, Octavius and Keyplus for coming back on it,

Regarding the Imperialistic history of all three religions, Christianity, Islam and Judaism, (converting by the sword), and even today, radical preachers of all three preaching hatred about one or the other of the three.

To tell the truth, it doesn't worry me at all that some Imams are as depicted in the article, there are only two main things I am concerned about, my family, and my country, the country that gave my ancestors succour from other Europeans, Obviously that last statement paves the way for other discussions, but later.
