jehovahs witnesses

Had a couple of them knocking on my door at the weekend. Two young girls, one was 20 (yes, I asked) and the other looked about 14 or so. For the first time in my life I actually felt sorry for religious folks. Upon questioning the 20 year old I found out that she was bought up in the faith by her parents but they had abandoned it. She had other relatives still in the church. She became amazingly uncomfortable when I pressed her on her parents apparent apostasy and refused to discuss it. She also refused to tell me if she still had anything to do with her parents. It was clear that she couldnt wait to get away in spite of my offer of a cup of tea and a chat.
It didnt take a great deal of grey matter to know that she had abandoned her parents for the sake of 'faith'.
I felt truley sorry for her and what harm religion can do to families.

Not a question, just an observation.

The last time I invited a Jehovas Witness into my house, I offended him and he stormed of the front door before I had a chance to ask him about "shunning" and how it breaks up families.

He asked me what I thought a perfect world would look like and showed me this picture, it was of a polar bear standing up on it's two back legs, smiling and shaking hands with a man. I burst out laughing, and spat the tea that was in my mouth all over the floor.

When I moved to Greece, 8 years ago, I thought I'd seen the last of 'em, but believe it or not, they even turn up here - what's more they look exactly like the English ones.

I like the sound of them. I would love to live in a world where you can shake hands with a polar bear.

Whenever I have any one like this at my door step, I always ask them to come in. Then I usually tell them that I am Muslim and now they can say what they want to but I have few questions I would like to ask afterwards. Many just leave straight away after that.
