. . . or perhaps they're a scared to speak out against anything that has been done in the name of their own religion . . . sometimes silence speaks volumes.

Hear, hear ww ! But I wouldn't hold your breath, not because there aren't any reasonable, moderate Muslims, but Muslims in general are hardly thick on the ground, here on AB !
There was a gang of killers operated in Belfast in the early 70s who delighted in mutilating their victims with knives. I think one was decapitated.
'Ordinary Protestants' had no need to apologise for their actions. They were hardly representative of the entire Protestant community.
Likewise, why should any Muslim contributor to AB feel any need to apologise for the actions, largely politically motivated, of extremists?
I would have thought, all of them.
Trust Sandy to slip a post in there.

Previous post was to OP of course.
Aye, crossed posts. But the OP should get our gist
Sandy...I am not if Wildwood is asking for an apology, just support for moderate Muslims. Not such an outrageous thing to ask I would have thought ? Britain is firmly multi-cultural, although many here on AB hate that idea. But we do tend to be overwhelming non-Muslim here.
Wouldn't it go without saying that all decent people condemn atrocities? Why should our Muslim brothers in faith be particularly singled out and invited to parade their abhorrence?
Might it be that the atrocities are being done in the name of Islam Sandy ?

If there were Nuns and Parish Priests, travelling from the Home Counties, to the Middle East, armed to the teeth, I would expect the Pope and the Arch Bish of Canters to expressing an opinion, wouldn't you ?

According to the news this morning, there are hundreds of British Muslims fighting in the area, some of for the IS forces. Is really too much to expect British Muslims and their Leaders to publicly condemn these actions ? Isn't the absence of any condemnation rather difficult to understand ?

The Islamic world needs to get its head around the fact that most of this current business is being done in the name of their religion.
Oh I agree with the issue !

You should nt cut off the heads of captives and film it.
[ O god I feel like being made to say out loud: you should nt put small dogs in microwaves and put it on. ]

Sandy: Shankill Butchers - and the fella that put them away had just had an obit in the teleg. So Mad - ( even for er the Irish ) that when the Butchers killed the wrong people once, they then planned "reprisals" which involved um murdering a few more
Not sure about this women's figures

.

as an English RC I was grouped with the lot bombing Birmingham.
rather obvious I didnt/wasnt but I bore my cross cheerfully

If you recollect that Cardinal hume used to take apart Cardinal O'Brady's failure to condemn the IRA with such regularity and efficiency that in the end O'Brady used to refuse to meet him
What I meant to say was according to this women's figures if we have 100 Muslims on AB then 15 of those would support IS and that's at the lowest estimate
Not sure if that is the case
I have a 20 y o asian newsagent
and said to him a propos of not an awful lot:

all you have to do is fly out of the country with an intention to assist terrorism and you spend a long time in prison ( obv not if he id dead or doesnt come back )

and he looked a bit shocked at that.
We can probably count on one hand the number of Muslims on AB but on other recent threads there have been comments made.

Generally, there have been a number of folk on here who feel that not enough condemnation has been expressed from the Muslim world. I am not exactly sure to what extent some people believe should be said or done.

If some were inclined to check, there has been much condemnation from senior figures and organisations, protests and of course, the recent fatwas.

One idea mooted on here was for a petition to be drawn up and widely distributed so that as many Muslims could publicly declare their abhorrence.
//One idea mooted on here was for a petition to be drawn up and widely distributed so that as many Muslims could publicly declare their abhorrence. //

I suggested that^. I thought the Sun newspaper might oblige.
There you again.
There who again?
Keyplus, you must agree with the all round benefits though?
Personally I don't look to the normal, moderate and reasonable Muslim to publicly condemn the actions taken by extremists any more than I look to all men to apologise for rapists.
Would The Sun be taken by many Muslims?
