Why Are So Many People On This Site So Anti-Jehovah Witness?

Yesterday, I was out walking when I noticed a lot of people around the estate. They were Jehovah's Witnesses. Having engaged in conversation I had a leaflet advertising a website JW.Org. From the conversation I found them to be polite, happy and they made no attempt to convert me. They didn't even ask where I lived or my name, they were quite happy to just stand and talk.

Well, that's me converted.

Because they are a bloody pest!!! If we wanted to know about their flavour of religion we could find out without them banging on our doors. We don't need or want them pestering us!!! I am an atheist, would you like me trying to ram it down your throat on your doorstep every few weeks?
And if think it is just people on this site that are against them, you are really blinkered, they are generally thought of as "cranks" across the board.
I don't think people are anti-JH particularly, as annoyed by one advocate of their faith who posts regularly on here.

The individual concerned often posts Questions, and then responds to any responses by quoting vast tracts of biblical texts, while simultaniously avoiding answering questions, or indulging in any meaningful debate.

That position, combined with an underlying attitude of superiority and denigration common to fundamental believers of all faiths makes this individual difficult to engage, and tends to offer a negative representation of his particular faith.

I think that comprises the majority of posts on this section that could be construed as being 'anti- Jehovah's Witnesses'.
When I was a child I remember JW's being very pushy and aggressive in their ways, the last lot we had calling were quite polite and left when told we weren't interested even thanking me for answering the door and not ignoring them.Perhaps they've learned that people are more likely to react favorably to somebody who is polite and pleasant.
This post is so obviously JH propaganda.

Canary@ Why?
Ratter15@ I have worked with Jehovah's witnesses in the past, when I worked for the Police the janitor was one and when in the hospital quite a few nurses were witnesses. I did not find them "cranks", they were always conscientious, and helpful. They did not push their beliefs unless asked. (which I didn't ask).
I
Anyone whose aim is proselytizing to those who don't wish to be bothered are going to get flak. How individually nice and helpful they are otherwise won't change that. We're talking of groups and group behaviour not any individual's good points to their character.
The JW I have had any dealings with in the last few years have not been at all pushy and always very pleasant and polite. They seem to go about in family groups more these days and there are always some kids in tow, I suppose people aren't so rude to them if kids are present. To be honest I'd rather they didn't come to my door just as I'd rather the charity beggars and home improvement salesmen stayed away but of them all JW are usually the nicest to deal with and easiest to send on their way.
I like to invite them in to join in my birthday celebrations.

The questions themselves aren't even real questions andy. Just things copied out of Watchtower articles.

I had some at the door the other day. I also found them perfectly polite and unpushy. I just said I hadn't got time to talk to them but they could leave me a leaflet, which they did, and duly went. It was fine.
Don't think it's true.
Perhaps you could give us several references as to when people on the site have been anti-JW. If you can't I'm afraid your argument fails...
Got those examples idiosyncrasy?
I suspect it's because there are many, including certain governments around the world who identify JW's as a cult and not a religion. The JW's are strongly cultic in both doctrine and behaviour. This, unto itself, fits within the categories of "false doctrine" and mind control. Some JW's will identify themselves as 'Christian.' However, this is not true among all. In fact, it may be directly against JW doctrine. JW's believe that all true Christian churches are of the devil. They believe Jesus is not God, but is the Archangel Michael. And as with many Christian denominations they deny that God is a Trinity. The adamantly disagree that Jesus died on a Cross. They believe and sometimes feverishly assert that He died on a stake. They do not believe in the resurrection. The believe that only, approximately 145,000 will go to Heaven. Apparently, the rest are supposed to live in a paradise on Earth...perhaps somewhere near Slough, or perhaps Macclesfield. And those who live there will never see the person who 'allegedly' died for them. There's no such thing as salvation, other than through their comic book - The Watchtower. They're never allowed to question the teachings of Watchtower leaders. They claim you must read their comic books in order to understand the Bible. And if you refuse to, you will revert to normal Christianity...something they apparently compare with having your Frequent Flier status permanently downgraded to its lowest level. I don't remember precisely how many times now, (I lose track) they've predicted the end of the world. ( I think it's five times). I think they still forbid any vaccinations or organ transplants, or blood transfusions to save a life. They're supposed to come visit your home at least ten hours each month, distributing their comic books. But they may also drop off Betterware and Amway catalogues at the same time. They have a remarkable translation of the Bible, which confirms to their own beliefs - one that defies even the most simplistic of linguistic translations. They are not permitted to interact with anyone who has left the fold. This includes their own children who can be cast onto the streets for refusing to adhere to a JW's demands. They want nothing to do with tertiary education - it might encourage the broadening of the mind, and thus corrupting their teachings. They're not permitted to serve HM Armed Forces. They refuse to acknowledge birthdays, anniversaries, etc. And in no terms are they to have anything to do with Christmas or Hanukkah. (except for making money off those who do celebrate the holidays.) And I think some believe Mickey Mouse is actually the president of Europe and should be held as a deity. ( I could be wrong on this last point...the JW who told me all of this had been committed to an institution as a result of a breakdown after escaping (choosing to leave), the JW's and was perpetually hounded by them to the point she tried to take her life. I could be wrong on a number of these points, but I think I'm not too far off. Personally, I'd more follow the local Amway Rep than I would a JW....at least I could pick up some hand cream and a possible distributorship!!

I am not against J W per se but I object to people using this site as a pulpit, asking questions but rarely replying to any answer and making statements that are never backed up with proof. The JWs who contribute to this site considerer themselves and their religion sacrosanct and fail to realise that saying "it's in the bible" doesn't make it true; quoting vast tracts of the bible proves nothing.
You know “Why” is Sometimes the most painful question of all.

When war, disaster, disease, or crime takes their innocent loved ones, destroys their home, or brings them untold suffering and in other ways they always ask “Why?”

Throughout my life and what I have gone through, it has only been JWs that has been able to give me satisfactory answers. Doesn’t matter who I have gone to, its only this organisation that has given me comfort and hope.

So Ido – keep searching!!
ideosyncrasy is so obviously of the JW persuasion (if his previous posts are a reliable guide)that I think this question can be quietly ignored.
Thank you goodlife, you have just proved my statement.
