appropriate clothing for visiting the Queen

hi, I am visiting the Queen later this year and need to know appropriate clothing. I am a size 16 and have horrendously heavy legs that never look good. I would love to wear a maxi dress of some description but feel ths wouldn't be dressy enough? please advise tia x

Why wouldn't a maxi dress look dressy?( or skirt) wear a smart classy jacket with it a lovely hat. Aqua is the colour this year.

I think there's a rule about covering your shoulders infront of her majesty, I don't know if you were aware of that.

oooh no i didnt know about the shoulder thing, i also have a tattoo on the inside of my arm but was going to wear a jacket or a pashmina which I could put over my arm? All the Maxi dressesd have seen and like are too beachy if you get what I mean.

im not going to be anything Jemisa my husband is but I cant divulge any more information that that until tomorrow :)

Spanner - you probably are far more aware of your "bad points" than other people see, my old mum was dreadfully aware of her big legs but she had a lovely face and dressed elegantly, so very few people ever considered her legs! Get a smart suit with a longish skirt - something like Roman Originals is sold in factory outlets and are very elegant but affordable - and a lovely hat, and you will carry the day!

I am sure her Majesty would sooner look for a friendly face than worry about anyone's legs. She apparently likes hats so go for that elegant but not outlandish look.

You are visiting the Queen on New Year's Eve? You said you were seeing her later this year, and that was posted on 30th December. I think you should have said in the New Year 2011.
