I've read these posts and you've lost me. Who do you mean? |

I don't mean anyone in particular.
http://blueherald.com...o/2009/i_am_a_man.JPG That's an example of inequality, you couldn't get much lower than a sanitation worker in those days. I've no interest in high versus low earners, that's not inequality that's economics, Martin Luther King summed it up perfectly "equality is not a quantitive something but a qualititive something." It takes all sorts to make a world, why can't some people respect that? |

sounds like there is a story behind this question?

You sound as baffled as I am Woofgang.
Everton. can't get into your link. |

The link is a famous picture of some sanitation workers who went on strike for equal pay and equitable treatment, they are walking down the road carrying a sandwich board written upon it is "I am a man."
The law denied them equality, so they defied the law. But still you will encounter racial prejudice, try telling them blacks are equal. There is a tendency amongst many people to view their way as not only the right way, but the only way. Sunni is better than Shia, Protestant is better than Catholic, Hindu is better than Muslim, atheism is better than all of the above, meat is murder, vegan is better than vegetarianism, even democracy, democracy is the least worst form of government but all countries differ in the constitution of their democracies so they get attacked for it. The notion that my way is the right way for everyone is absurd, it's as equally fatuous for others. Why is it so hard for some to accept that people are all different, and respect that? |

What, you mean like you accept that I'm different to you, and respect that? How hypocritical! |
|
Question Author
I do accept that you're different to me.
It's not hypocritical at all. Part of free speech is being able to disagree. It's a rather strange point you make. |
|
So if you accept you're different to me, why don't you respect that?

I speak as I'm spoken to.
If that's direspectful, well, go figure. |
|
If that were true, Everton, you would have no reason to be so rude. I'll just take that as another cop out because you don't have a sensible answer. If we get down to the nitty gritty of what you're actually saying here it appears you claim your right to express your opinions, but deny everyone else a right to express theirs unless they agree with you.

I'd suggest the opposite is true.
I don't believe in protective custody for people who hat our country. I don't believe in banning all manner of things I dislike. I don't expect you to see it that way, hey ho. |
|
You suggest the opposite is true - but I'm not the one complaining that people don't respect other people's opinions - you are. I think you're tying yourself up in knots again Everton. Oh dear. ;o))

| http://tinyurl.com/6abjb3x No this is not an April fool story, I tried to post it yesterday but for some fault on AB, it was unsuccessful. So they send a group of Asian youths off on a jolly to... |
