Orthodox Jewish and Bicycles

OK, having a small debate with colleagues, why do I have the stereotypical image of bicycles being associated with Orthodox Jewish men? Is there any cultural or historical relation here?

I've no idea why you have that image. I would have thought a stereotypical image of someone who rides a bicycle would be more likely to be a French onion seller.

Possibly as Othodox Jews are not meant to use motorized vehicles on the Sabbath?
Now if you were talking about Volvo's.
Now my image is scruffy beards and ringlets.....
Because horses tend to dig their hoofs into the ground, bicycles don't.
