horatio nelson,
had a particularly good day at the office by slapping convincingly the french and their mates at that time the spanish all over cape trafalgar on 21st october 1805,
he got fatally shot leading from the front but ensured that england ruled the waves, at least for the next 100 years or so,
he was flawed in his personal life and had an ego the size never before seen but put his efforts where his mouth was and delivered as promised and required,
he had courage, commitment and skill un-rivalled in our military history.

Did you know that Horatio Nelson was only 5 feet 1 inch in height? The same height as Ronnie Corbett, but an immortal hero who beat Napoleon, conqueror of Europe. Good on him! Goes to show that size doesn't matter.

Famous isn't the same as great
Fame tends to be pretty fleeting - and needs constant updating.
I doubt many people in say China or India would know who Wordsworth or Nelson were or even Churchill.
I'd imagine that a whole lot more would know David Beckham and probably half the Manchester United team.
Ask again in 10 years time it might be a very different set of answers.
Depends who you ask

Did Nelson have a death wish, why did he dress up in his full regailia & stand on deck as a sitting duck. Could it have possibly been down to his misdemeaners with Lady Hamilton ?
Incidentaly, she was born near here on the Wirral
